Born Raúl Alejandro Ocasio Ruiz in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Rauw experienced a challenging upbringing. His parents separated during his early years, and he was raised by his mother, María Nelly Ruiz, alongside his sister and grandmother. To make ends meet, María worked three jobs, instilling a strong work ethic and sense of determination in Rauw from a young age. Seeing his mother’s sacrifice inspired him, but financial struggles meant he needed to step up and help.

Before achieving success in the music industry, Rauw held seven different jobs. From working in retail to delivering packages, each job taught him valuable lessons about perseverance and resilience. These experiences kept him grounded and motivated, fueling his passion for music as he tirelessly worked toward his dream. Despite the challenges, he never gave up on his musical aspirations, dedicating countless hours to refining his craft.

Rauw’s breakthrough didn’t happen overnight. It was the result of years of dedication, learning from his experiences, and staying true to his roots. Today, his hard work has paid off as he performs on global stages, garners awards, and inspires millions. His story serves as a reminder that even the most celebrated figures often come from humble beginnings and that success is often built on the foundations of struggle and sacrifice.
